The Development Manager - Retail / Mixed Use will have responsibility significant projects and may be supported by an Assistant Development Manager, depending on project scale.


You will initially manage a large mixed use / retail development end-to-end.

 

Key responsibilities include;

 

  • Operational and financial performance of specific nominated project(s) inclusive of all elements relating to profit/loss, cash, sales and settlements and delivery programme. This will be in accordance with the project’s Feasibility and Business Plan.
  • Facilitate the operations of the project(s), with team members from other departments through the design phase to delivery, including authority approvals, procurement, and construction delivery through to settlement.
  • Ensure that the governance surrounding the operating platform is implemented and conforming with business requirements.
  • Manage the key client and stakeholder relationships
  • Business Development initially will form a large portion of this real. Including (but not limited to) key real estate agents both commercial and residential, key consultants, financial institutions.
  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of a whole-of-organisation delivery strategy to underpin service excellence and long-term sustainability
  • Exercising sound business judgement, identify, investigate and analyse development opportunities, including innovative solutions
  • Manage all phase of projects, including project set-up, design, permit-application and construction administration through superintendent with other departments including design department, sales and marketing department, finance department.
  • Assist with property development business cases and development proposals, including all aspects of feasibility investigations (including due diligence, design & constructions)
  • Project / Development Management daily operations including concept and design development; stakeholders, consultant and contractor negotiation and liaison; risk mitigation; delivery within approved budget; program control; and contract administration
  • Review project metrics, in collaboration with the Finance and Sales & Marketing team, to analyse and manage changing project conditions or circumstances
  • Develop / Implement and execute sound leasing / sales strategy with regular reporting back to stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain ongoing, productive relationships with contractors and consultancies 
  • Prepare timely, accurate & professional (internal and external) reports
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations 
  • Ensure project performance in line with Feasibility and Business Plan
  • Input into the vision of the project and establish development brief to ensure it is delivered effectively.
  • Develop a project plan and procurement strategy for the project(s) and manage supplier relationships to get the most cost effective results
  • Maintain key government, private industry and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure that the projects proceed in accordance with the approved Funding Submissions, including project returns, costs, quality and program.
  • Ensure project performance in line with Feasibility and approved Budgets.
  • Input into the vision of the project and ensure it is delivered effectively.
  • Develop a procurement strategy for the project(s) and manage supplier relationships to get the most cost effective results
  • Maintain key government, private industry and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure that the projects proceed in accordance with the approved Funding Submissions, including project returns, costs, quality and program
  • Be able to work autonomously

What you'll need to succeed;

 

  • Degree in Engineering, Property, Construction or other related discipline
  • Mixed use / retail development experience desirable
  • 5+ years’ industry experience
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities - Internal & External
  • Ability to prepare feasibilities and cost estimates for development projects
  • Proven ability to deliver within time and budgetary controls
  • Attention to detail and strong desire for delivery of quality developments
  • Strong ambition to drive multiple projects through full project life cycle
